High school depression..yeah right. help please?

These days at my school, everyone's all depressed and they say they're going to commit suicide and they put this on their facebooks and profiles and then they come to school the next day with bandages on their arms and when people ask about them, they just say they don't want to talk about it. And then later, they're complaining about how nobody cares about them and how their heartbroken. Just recently, my parents got a divorce and my mom's been trying really hard to get a job and I told my friends this and they felt sorry at the moment and then a day later, they're complaining about how their boyfriends broke up with them(again) and I think they've already forgotten whats going on with me. I need someone to talk to. What should i do? thanks if you're actually reading this.

You can talk to me. Or do you have a school councilor?

Its not that your friends dont care about you, its just that they are too involved with whats going on in thier lives, and what seems most important to them right now concerns only themselves, they still care about you but if they are not in the same position as you are, then they will have trouble identifing with you and your problems. Also keep talking to your friends, let them know whats happening with you and maybe if one or two of them are closer than the others, tell them you need thier help to get through this. That way they will know that you need help and advice and hopefully be there for you. As for the divorce - just remember to love both your parents even if they cant love each other anymore, they both Love you even if its a bit hard to see that just now.

You can actually talk to someone live that can help you with the high school problems. When I was in school I went to this site often.

Good luck and life always gets better some how.
Reply:Teenagers are often self-involved.

Having said that, it seems like a lot of kids are having trouble these days (with depression).

I struggled with it for a long time. it was the worst in high school.

I know this sounds so banal but have you thought about seeing a therapist? I'm not talking about a psychologist who will diagnose you or a psychiatrist who will prescribe something but more like a psychoanalyst or even a school counselor who might be able to refer you to someone. I KNOW what it's like to need someone to talk to when nobody is available.

Take care of yourself.
