How do you tell a 'friend with benefits' that you want to 'downgrade' to being 'regular' friends

I have this friend and we used to hook up every so often. Maybe about 5 times. It was heavy petting but no actual sex. I am not into that anymore and only want to be physical if I am in a relationship but I am not sure how to tell this guy.





He is sweet and really funny and we are actually in different countries now but he still emails and facebooks every now and then. There is a chance I will be seeing him in a few weeks as he will be in the country BUT I do not know how to let him know it will not be 'business as usual'





What do I do? It would be a bit of a tease to tell him when we are together wouldn't it but then again it would be kinda retarded to send an email saying 'by the way, we are not friends with benefits any more.

If he is going to be just a friend then tell him. Let him know before he gets there that you are in a relationship, (if you are) that is exclusive, but that you and he are still friends. He will understand. If not, mabe it is time to move on.

also you can arrange to meet someplace that grabbing and messing around would not be appropriate.... avoid the movies and empty parks. also long car rides and possible waiting for whatever.
