How do people get so many friends on Facebook?

I'm just looking around at the Facebooks of people I went to high school with. They all have 200 + friends. I only have 41 total and I don't even talk to about 30 of the 40. I feel like such a loser. I'm terrible at making/keeping friends.

How do people get so many friends on Facebook?
Here is what I've always thought... I'd rather have 2 REALLY good, awesome friends that I know I can always count on than have a ton of fake friends. It's very hard to find a good friend so if you have even just one consider yourself very lucky! :)
Reply:I don't have anywhere near that many friends either. My guess is they randomly added people friends of friends and so on. No way they can talk to that many people. I think I talk to maybe about 10 of my facebook friends on a regular basis.
Reply:'Friend' is used so loosely these days. I look at my Facebook and there is not even ONE person on there I can truly call my friend. There are about 4-5 I could call 'close acquaintances' and the remaining are people who I just happen to know.
Reply:Mate, ive only got like 20 friends on facebook, and some of them i dont talk to lol!! Who cares? Its not the quantity, its the quality. Your not a loser!!
Reply:I have 8 friends there and I really don't feel like loser!!! come on!!
Reply:depends how many friends you know.
Reply:depending on how many people you know, i've seen people who have over a 1000 friends.
Reply:Honestly, sociology has suggested that there are limits to how many good freinds one can have. It is speculated to be around 25, after that, it just gets way too hard to keep track of everyone that closely.

So, this tells me most of them add friends they either don't know personally or only met once or twice. I only have about 50 friends myself, but lately I've been linking up with people I JUST met, and that's how people end up getting 400+ friends. Most of my friends are that way.
Reply:join groups and search more for friends
Reply:I only have 10! I don't mind.
